Legal Resources

The Legal Centre for Palestine

The Legal Centre for Palestine (LCP) is driven entirely by volunteers, who are therefore dedicated to advocating for the legal rights and dignity of Palestinians and their allies in Canada and beyond. Moreover, our mission is to advance the cause of Palestinian rights and liberation through legal advocacy, policy influence, and strategic litigation. Founded in 2021, LCP was established to address the unique challenges faced by Palestinians in Canada while also supporting the broader movement for Palestinian rights.

In addition, our inception was motivated by a deep need to combat systemic discrimination and to provide a voice for Palestinians in legal and policy arenas. Through extensive community consultations and collaboration with anti-racism academics, activists, and legal professionals, we have built a robust foundation for our work. As a result, we remain committed to responding to incidents of harassment, providing strategic training, and advising policymakers to ensure that the rights and narratives of Palestinians are recognized and respected.

General Educational Resources

Provide an intellectual hub for the study of Palestine.

‘Hearing Palestine’ provides an intellectual hub at the University of Toronto that facilitates advanced and interdisciplinary research on Palestine, past, present, and future.

We generate academic discussions on some of the most complex and tangled questions in the humanities and social sciences. Moreover, these discussions consider their consequences for human life, academic freedom, equity, and inclusion, as well as the repercussions on current affairs in Canada, the North Atlantic more broadly, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In addition, we are engaged in numerous activities, which we plan to expand in the coming years. For instance, we host international conferences, workshops, and an annual lecture. Furthermore, we will train postdocs, scholars, and artists in residence in collaboration with other departments and faculties across the three UofT campuses. Simultaneously, we are developing an archive of Palestinian student activities and publications, and we will produce an in-house journal along with occasional papers. Finally, we will host performances, exhibitions, and films with Palestinian partners from the GTA.
